AVALANCHE AWARENESS AND RESCUE CLASS
WHEN: Friday 1/13/12, 6:30pm-9:30pm
WHERE: The Butte Airport Peak Hanger
WHEN: Saturday 1/14/12, 10am-4pm
WHERE: The Red Lion Parking Lot and Georgetown
Saturday's field class will include analysis of recent avelanches in Red Lion area.
This class is for snomobilers, back-country skiers, hunters, and anyone who spends time on mountainous terrain during the winter.
AAI certified instructors will cover:
- Analyzing Snowpack
- Weather conditions to assess avalanche danger
- Proper search techniques
- Correct use of avalanche beacons
- Rescue equipment along with safety tips
Students will need to bring:
- Lunch or snacks
- Snowmobile
- Avalanche beacon
- Shovel
- Probe pole
- Proper outdoor clothing
(Extra beacons, shovels, and probes are available if needed)
PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED
Class is limited to a maximum of 16 students
The cost is $50.00 per student. Mastercard and Visa accepted.
